Here is text of Vice President Cheney's Statement:
Mr. Libby has informed me that he is resigning to fight the charges brought against him. I have accepted his decision with deep regret.Scooter Libby is one of the most capable and talented individuals I have ever known. He has given many years of his life to public service and has served our nation tirelessly and with great distinction.
In our system of government an accused person is presumed innocent until a contrary finding is made by a jury after an opportunity to answer the charges and a full airing of the facts. Mr. Libby is entitled to that opportunity.
Because this is a pending legal proceeding, in fairness to all those involved, it would be inappropriate for me to comment on the charges or on any facts relating to the proceeding.

Since Cheney approves of torture, the trial could be over very quickly.
Maybe Libby's trial will be. The others may take longer.

Translation: The stonewalling will continue, until the political climate improves.
Good translation, Michael.
Another one could be: The stonewalling will continue, until I am subpoenaed.
I did not have sex with Scooter Libby. What did you say the definition of 'is' is?
((( In our system of government an accused person is presumed innocent until a contrary finding is made by a jury )))
Actually that is no-longer the case, Cheney himself seems to have made the changes. perhaps a tour down in Cuba could refresh his memory.
Anyway this is how courts work, start small and dig out the truth over time. Good work Pat.

Padilla says what?

Cheney says:
"an accused person is presumed innocent until a contrary finding is made by a jury"
Kay Bailey Hutchison says we should:
"not judge those involved until it has been proven they are anything other than innocent."
George Bush said:
"each individual is presumed innocent and entitled to due process and a fair trial."
Funny how none of them can bring themselves to spit out the word "guilty."
Damn, this was just a show Libby is a replacable nobody which Cheney and the neocon cabal could use as a sacrificial lamb for everything that is in danger of being prosecuted. The left's Monica Lewinski. Post something which will put us on edge, this is a waste of time, will lead to nothing :)
Geez, only 5 counts... Didn't Cisneros get 39 counts, and Espy 18?
When will the republicans learn how to be truly corrupt?
The Dem's still lead 57-5 (unless you count the impeached one!)
Hey Randy,
The folks in Cuba aren't US Citizens, and therefore not covered by our constitution. They also aren't members of an organized nation's army, therefore not covered by Geneva. Guess they can stay out in the rain of Hurricane Beta this weekend.
Crazy Politico read this and others: Jose Padilla : U.S. Citizen Imprisoned Without Trial or Charges for 3 Years and 173 Days!

FUNNY AND SAD HOW ALL OF ABOVE WANT TO DENY A FAIR TRIAL TO OTHERS,INCLUDING U.S. CITIZENS BEING TORTURED IN GITMO,WITHOUT A TRIAL OR LAWYER'S! AND SHAME ON U.S.CITIZENS FOR NOT STOPPING IT EITHER! WHY CAN'T THEY SAY THE WORD GUILTY!? LIBBY AND OTHERS ARE GUILTY AS HELL! INCLUDING EVIL BUSH AND CHENEY TOO! THE DAMN JUDGE WHO WILL HEAR LIBBY'S CASE IS APPOINTED BY BUSH, WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU FOLKS? ALL SET UP FUCKING DEAL, IS WHAT! WHO ASSISNED HIM THE CASE ANYWAY? FITZGERALD!? I SMELL A COVER-UP AS BIG AS 9-11 COVERUP! NO DAMN JUSTICE IN AMERICA ANYMORE, NONE! THESE EVIL BASTARDS ARE GETTING AWAY WITH LITERALLY MURDER,PLUS WAR CRIMES,ETC. OUR ONLY HOPE IS TO HAVE OTHER COUNTRIES INDICT BUSH AND REST ON WAR CRIMES, AND I PRAY THEY DO AND NOW! OUR GOV'T AND R'S ARE TOO CORRUPT TO PUNISH THEIR OWN, MOST OF THEM!
FUCK CHENEY, AND BUSH! THEY BOTH NEED TO BE INDICTED AND HANGED FOR TREASON TOO! OVER OUTING A CIA AGENT,LYING TO CONGRESS AND PUBLIC OVER REASONS FOR WARS, AND INVOLVEMENT IN 9-11, TOO! HANG THEM ALL FOR TREASON,ETC.
The neocons' supporters' strategy is of course to make it like it's no big deal, get it over and done with. In truth, to keep this investigation going is the WORST POSSIBLE OUTCOME...it really gets them gnashing their teeth and pulling their hair like the proverbial slow torture while they are watching the calendar and seeing Election 2006 loom closer, so folks, keep it going like the Energizer Bunny:
O’BRIEN: So there you have it, Karl Rove apparently escaping indictment, but that’s the good news. The bad news is, on goes the investigation. What are your thoughts on that one?
COULTER: That is like the worse possible outcome.
O’BRIEN: Oh, an indictment would be better?
COULTER: I think so. I mean, I don’t think indictments are particularly big deal politically. They’re a big deal for whoever gets indicted, but I don’t think it really matters to the White House. I’ve just been thinking, this is going to be lancing the boil. Let’s just get it done one way or the other this Friday. Either they get indicted and they leave, or they’re not indicted and it’s over. To stay under investigation  that is not the best possible outcome.
It's interesting to hear republicans say that prejury and obstruction of justice are not a big deal. It was for Clinton. Hmmm what's the word I'm looking for... oh yeah, it's HYPOCRITES. Even Bill O'Reilly is calling some republicans on it.
Steve,
I'm amazed at the people who post on your site that still hate the United States of America. I wish they would emigrate. I really wish we could strip them of their citizenship or residency and deport them. They hate this country and are allies of the terrorists. The average American, even when they are fed up with Republicans, understands this. That is why the Democrats are out of power. They are too closed tied with traitors and other leftists.
I agree with Betsy. Anyone who lied to the FBI and Grand Jury should get the same punishment Hillary and Bill Clinton got !
It will be interesting to see what happens in a court with Libby having lawyers asking really pertinent questions to the real liar, namely Joe Wilson ... watching Sen. Harry Reid, a real imbecile, on Wolf Blitzer, confirms to me that this investigation is simply fodder for the Dems, and has no real substance, in spite of Fitzgerald's over the top remarks to the press.
