Over the next few weeks, you will notice design changes to the website. The first has been added today, just before New Year's.
I realize that these changes may have some kinks to sort out, particularly given the fact that people view them through different browsers. Just send a note if you are having problems.
More soon. Off to spend New Year's in Philadelphia, must to the consternation of an earlier reader in the last post.
Oakley the Weimaraner sends best New Year's greetings to all.

Happy New Year to you, and your family (including Oakley -- who seems to be saying "C'mon Steve, can't you sit somewhere else!) :)
re: design changes.... not a fan of the new font. "Distictiveness" often has it advantages, but this particular choice may be ill-advised.
I like the torn page graphic. It's a handsome detail. On that note, Oakley is a very handsome dog, aside for those monsterous rabbit like feet of course.
EXCELLENT addition having the search mechanism. suuuuper thanks.
also like the pointers to "recommended sites".
Reflecting on the growth and changes in TWN over time speaks volumes about an intelligent way of moving forward. You do the best with what you have. You get feedback, you learn, you get new insights AND u make changes and adjustments. This is verrrrry different from the more traditional mindset that all questions must be answered, everything must be correct and perfect before u proceed.
What i'm leading up to, it might behove the administration to learn from this kind of evolving strategy when dealing with the Iraqi situation as well as our foreign policy perspective when dealing with the world at large. It doesn't appear that this administration is able to take in new information and data to adjust it's approach in dealing with Iraq as well as with the rest of the world. By their actions, it appears they have a particular mental model of how the should "ought" to be and how the peoples of the world "should" act and think regardless of what the feedback and data says.
how unfortunate. So they resort to unlawful tactics of torture and spying on American citizens with no judicial oversight.
Love the pic of velvety Oakley in the velvety chair. Oh, and I like your pic, too. Wishes for change for the better in the New Year . . .
Not much of a design change.
Although I'm a little surprised you kept the picture of you doing the "Teensy Weensy Spider" hand gesture.
The "search this site" and "recommended sites" are very broken in Safari. Actually the HTML for the page is quite broken.
Here's a tool that will help you sort that out.
Good changes. Readable type, though it gets a little hard to read when there are the masses of type in long paragraphs (more space between lines?) Thanks for the recogmended sites. Glad your photo completely downloads now!
I'm glad you changed the picture. You look a little like John Ashcroft from the nose up.
The site looks great. Warmer somehow.
The reader comments box is a lot easier on the eyes, but I think that the recommended sites drop down list box is a poor design. A GO button would improve functionality so that the user conscioulsy has to make that choice, also after the selection is made a new window for the selected site might be a good idea.
Cosmetic changes aside, the content is why I am a TWN reader, keep up the good work.
At least Oakley doesn't have to go through the dicomfiture of stting on his balls, since somebody, I don't know who, had them cut off. Poor Oakley, ole boy, has that hang dog look of a dog who had his balls cut off. Happy New Year Oakley, another one of missing your once handsome balls.
Site lookes very nice. I would however suggest a differant hover color for the links. The bright cyan is hard to read.
