I am glad to see Oakley is doing okay. The only thing he seems to be missing is a Frosty Paw.

On a more serious note, it looks like the Ports deal isn't as dead as everyone thought.

Oakley is one well behaved pooch. My labs would be on the sofas playing tug of war with the pillows.

Posted by Silver Warrior, Mar 13 2006, 9:13PM - Link

From an 'out there' and mighty upset American citizen who keeps looking for a current Abe Lincoln, begging your pardon but the ports deal looks like a smokescreen for Iran negotiations, read war planning.

And again, would someone please explain to me in simple terms what is Israel holding over the US? Is AIPAC the modern day Sannhedrin? Israel violates many, many UN resolutions and no one holds Israel accountable. Start with the declaration of possession of nuclear weapons and their deployment systems.

I'm willing to see you all are playing 4 dimensional Linux chess while I'm in a pick up basketball game in Mt Vernon NY, no harm, no foul, monitored by the best fighter on the court. Please though tell me what is the endgame with Israel that we're so inept and crippled?

Or is it a simpler question we need to address, admit and move past: no person in political power, in any country, has the courage or ability to admit error, i.e. I was wrong, I regret having hurt you. Can we please talk about this and stop killing each other? I am prepared to meet my Creator. However, I just don't think we are doing the best we can to live up to our end of the offering of life. I heard there is a place in Israel where four languages are spoken, recovery is common, and peace prevails. Know it?

Sorry, I guess I missed the instruction.
Oakley says: " After a long run, sitting still suffices."

"And again, would someone please explain to me in simple terms what is Israel holding over the US?"

Double blackmail? Didn't we pay the Israelis in the 50's to do radiation experiments on sephardic children? Didn't Israel attack the USS Liberty?

"Evidence linking these Israelis to 9/11 is classified. I cannot tell you about evidence that has been gathered. It's classified information." -- US official quoted in Carl Cameron's Fox News report on the Israeli spy ring and its connections to 9-11.

You have Amdocs, an Israeli company that knows of every call placed in this country... you have Comverse Infosys which installs and maintains phone tapping equipment for the US government...you have Checkpoint, an Israeli firewall company now trying to buy Sourcefire which makes intrusion prevention and detection technology although it is open source. There was more concern from the government about this deal than the Dubai port deal.

In light of DEA reports of suspicious Israeli art students selling cheap chinese made paintings to governemnt facilites and personnel; in light of the obvious shadowing of the 9/11 hijackers by mossad operatives throughout the country; in light of the approximately 200 Israelis rounded up around 9/11 and deported without investigation by people like Chertoff; in light of the fact that the Office of Special Plans which funneled the false intelligence about Iraq was almost completely comprised of Israeli firsters; in light of the fact that Larry Franklin who worked in the OSP claims that the Israelis gave him far more information than he gave them about Iran...I could really go on.

Imagine what I could come up with if I were an anti-semite. I'm just a 20-something Jew from Long Island who has a thirst for truth, no matter how ugly.

Steve, still want to meet me in NYC? I'd love to hear your take on the 5 dancing Israelis among other things.

Steve doesn't appear to wanna rock the boat. It is just so much easier to address the issues that are "allowed" in the realm of Insider Land. Wouldn't want to burn any bridges with the truth, you know.

All of the media is so cleansed of anything controversial, anything remotely truthful. We are constantly and repeatedly lied to about everything our government does. No one is asking the hard questions - the obvious questions. This government is ruining the name of Americans and dragging it through the mud. It is setting back the project of enlightened humanitarian ideals. All the Ivy League elites just yawn and say the rest of disgusted Americans are philistine conspiracy theorists, and that impeachment is a "political" question and will never happen because the party that controls the legislature blah blah blah. This president is ruining and indebting our country. And everyone just sits buy and watches as the corporate media gloss over everything remotely meaningful. Open thread this!

Wow. Lots of anger.

Also, lots of data the sources of which I don't know whether to trust anymore than Larry Kudlow or Monica Crowley or Don Imus or Wolf Blitzer or any of the rest of the Medea that has been constructed to market information. There is too much information to sort through.

It's simple: what I concentrate on has credence in my mind. I wear green filters on my glasses, I see green, whether that is professional sports, corporate elite corruption, or a power and grace beyond human understanding. Am I able to rise to forgiveness despite harm done to me?

That's a hardball question no matter what I may feel about Condi Rice or anyone like her.

From the AP:

"Reporters who write about government surveillance could be prosecuted under proposed legislation that would solidify the administration's eavesdropping authority, according to some legal analysts who are concerned about dramatic changes in U.S. law."

Don't get kidnapped. Israel's and the US has inflamed the area once again.

Evil.

My money is on Puerto Rico vs Korea in the World Baseball Classic final.

Posted by Pete Rose, Mar 14 2006, 1:40PM - Link

I like baseball and don't care anymore about the downward spiral of this country. We will always have baseball no matter what happens. If this country is reduced to only 18 people left, we can still have a baseball game.

God Bless America !

Posted by cool play, Mar 14 2006, 2:07PM - Link

Actually, one can say that the Classic is a glaring manifestation of the downward spiral of the US. Where would we be without the large Asian economies willing to fund our deficits = look how we play without the Dominicans and other Latin American players to beef us up and provide unbridled enthusiasm.

I can fret about the lobbying corruption scandals, the outing of a CIA agent, the horror that is Iraq while also enjoying the wonderful athletism of these international games and pondering the mystery of the "gyroball".
