Rudd Ratifies Kyoto

When I was on a plane bound for Melbourne last September, I flew over with three chummy political analysts who were regulars in the Australian American Leadership Dialogue. The three were clearly great friends -- and what they said was one of the things that brought them together was that they were all closeted supporters of Kevin Rudd.

Rudd, of course, is Australia's new Prime Minister.

The three were Washington Post columnist EJ Dionne, Brookings scholar Thomas Mann, and AEI scholar Norm Ornstein.

Well, Kevin -- as everyone in the AALD calls him -- has just ratified the Kyoto Treaty. That's big news, and makes the US an even greater outlier than it was before.

AEI SCHOLAR? Norm Ornstein? Since when does being on wingnut welfare qualify you as a "scholar" steve? (I mean, I know you like the guy, but anyone who hosts an AIPAC cruise http://aipac.org/Publications/AIPACPeriodicalsNearEastReport/NER051407.pdf ...well, give us a break.)
