Chuck Hagel in Biden Garb on Halloween 2007 in the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Hearing Room with the allegedly real Joe Biden
Joe Biden is not one of those types of candidates who does focus groups on the framing of everything he says, although i bet his team sometimes wishes he did, at least occasionally. Biden is a wonderful policy and political practitioner and intellectual.
His campaign did not take hold -- but this blogger really appreciates and often supports Biden's proposals. I really look forward to his continuing to be the conscience of good American foreign policy no matter who wins the presidency.
Here is a note from him received today:
I wanted to send a short note to say how incredibly grateful I am for the support you have shown me in this campaign.My entire family and I are in awe of the many of you who opened up your hearts and homes to us during the campaign to give us a chance to change this race, and the country, for the better. And we succeeded.
Whether it was keeping the Democratic Party focused on finding a political solution in Iraq, securing funding for MRAP vehicles for our troops, or calling for a fundamentally new approach to Pakistan, we had an impact on this election in ways that will reverberate into next November, when we elect a Democrat to the White House.
Although I am ending my Presidential campaign, I am not going away. I'm returning to the Senate as the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and will continue to ensure that we protect the nation's security and show our country that Democrats know how to keep America safe, keep our commitment to our troops and restore our country's respect in the world.
Again, thank you so much for making all of this possible.

I LIKE Joe Biden and think he, of all the candidates, most resembled JFK in intellect and wit.
Yeah, it'd be a lot sadder to see the end of Biden and Dodd on the campaign trail if they weren't headed back to the Senate, where we need some folks with intellect and class. I often disagree with them politically but I'm glad they're there.
Of course I could say the same about, say, Ron Paul. I wouldn't vote for his crazy schemes for President, but I'm glad he's in the Congress. It's like the gene pool, you need a variety of opinions to keep things lively and growing.

Steve -- you're a smart (and NICE) guy --so please do your homework about Biden and the Zionist planned break-up of Iraq. You have access to the movers and shakers in D.C. we don't, but it's our future and our kids' futures, at risk. Get Israel out of U.S. foreign policy. NOW.

Biden, I sure wish you had held on to allow me to cast my vote.
Sadly, the DEMs have no real "national security and foreign policy" candidate.
In my view, Biden is right about his projection for the next Dem nominee,...

Fox is obviously a hotbed of Necon communists who wish to further their personal and capital gains by refusing democratic participation of Ron Paul.
Mr. Paul’s fundamental democracy and constitutionalism likely scares the FOX execs and probably produces images of orange jumpsuits for their own participation in this country’s most hideous deception and fraudulent thievery by corporations, defense contractors and government officials.
It is a sad day when journalism loses objectivity for the sake of partisanship and profit.
FOX news commentators are rabid idiots that impose hostility and rage to anyone that challenges or disagrees with them. The most notorious and despicable is O’Reilly.
It is as Dan Rather communicated that today’s journalistic reporters no longer investigate and research the truth, they rely on paid pundits to deliver their messages of hidden agendas and false information. Modern day info-tainment, purely for ratings.
For me, the only FOX programming I view is the sports and only because of the strangle-hold FOX has imposed by buying out every venue available and reselling it as a pay-for-view.
I doubt now I will continue this as this latest action by FOX is too grievous to ignore.
This will undoubtedly be another black eye for FOX and Rupert Murdoch, who in my opinion, deserves a life-time membership in the Arizona Maricopa County tent paradise facility.

Ron Paul will prevail, regardless of FOX’s stupidity and hidden agendas.
It's going to be John McCain and Collin Powell for the GOP and Barack Obama and Joe Biden for the Dems. Unless Barack is not as intelligent as he seems.
H'mm. He may (or may not be) be classy but he really isn't that smart. In particular on Iraq, his so-called "federal" proposal-- actually, just the opposite, a "radical devolution of powers" proposal-- was extremely destructive to the country's internal political scene, giving hope and encouragement to the worst kind of sectarian and uber-ethnicist dead-enders.
One could make the case that Biden's idea has made everyone look at what dividing Iraq really meant, and did they really want to go there. Useful.

I have some substantive disagreements with Senator Biden on some domestic issues (in particular his vote on the bankruptcy bill), but both he and Senator Dodd were credits to themselves, and the party in their runs. I was proud of both of them.
And like some of the other commenters, it will be good to have them both back in the Senate full time in 2008. We can use them.
